The Deutsche Leberstiftung (German Liver Foundation) awards a prize for a publication or an abstract in the field of hepatology. The prize is awarded once a year for an outstanding paper in the field of hepatology, dealing with basic principles, pharmacology, or clinical work.
 
The Foundation awards grants to support scientific exchange between research facilities in the field of hepatology. These grants may be used by applicants to undertake clinical or basic scientific research at other research institutions for a limited period of time. The maximum funding period is six months. A grant includes funding for travel expenses, local accommodation and, if required, consumables at the host institution. Purely educational projects and trips to conventions are excluded from funding.
 
The Deutsche Leberstiftung (German Liver Foundation) awards leave grants to support the initiation and planning of clinical studies or clinical projects (e.g. IITs, analysis plans of cohort studies, etc.) in the field of hepatology. The grants are to be used to fund a leave for physicians for a maximum period of three months for planning the project or study.
